SUNNYVALE, CA, May 07, 2010 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) –Infinera (NASDAQ:INFN, news, filings) will discuss, at next week’s SubOptic conference, the results of a submarine network deployment in which the Infinera Submarine Solution was deployed to deliver a substantial increase in capacity on a legacy submarine cable system in Central and South America.
Infinera will also show the Infinera Submarine Solution at Booth #317 at the SubOptic 2010 conference and trade show in Yokohama, Japan. The show runs from May 11th through the 14th at the Pacifico Yokohama Conference Center.
The Infinera Submarine Solution is based on the Infinera DTN, the first optical system using large-scale photonic integrated circuits designed to deliver increased network speed, flexibility, scalability, and reliability. The Infinera solution is adapted to deliver increased capacity, more services, and greater network efficiency to submarine networks. It has been deployed on more than 50,000 kilometers of submarine networks.
At the SubOptic presentation, Jol Paling of Global Crossing, and Steve Grubb and Pierre Mertz of Infinera will discuss a real-world example of the application of the Infinera Submarine Solution to a legacy submarine system.
“The Infinera Submarine Solution enables submarine network operators to add years of life to their existing subsea infrastructure by increasing the capacity and offering new services, and in addition gain the benefits of Infinera’s unique speed of deployment as well as the economies of using a single optical system to connect both the submarine and the terrestrial network at the landing station,” said Infinera Fellow Steve Grubb.
Visitors to SubOptic are invited to contact their Infinera representative to arrange a meeting or contact Infinera’s Chew Peng Healey at chealey@infinera.com.
