Managed service provider leverages BTI 7000 Series as wavelength service delivery vehicle
Ottawa — Thursday, May 13, 2010 // BTI Systems, the company that redefines metro service delivery, today announced that Enventis, a leading integrated communications provider, has deployed the BTI 7000 Series for regional Point-of-Presence (POP) interconnect in the state of Minnesota. Enventis operates the most extensive fiber infrastructure network in the state, with metro rings in the major business centers to deliver robust telecom, transport and information solutions to enterprise customers.
Enventis needed a cost-effective, compact, WDM solution with extensive service delivery capabilities to address smaller landing points in the network and complement larger network platforms deployed in its major network centers. The BTI 7000 Series provides Enventis with network consolidation capabilities, migrating SONET OC-48 connectivity off fiber by using WDM “virtual fiber,” and offers wavelength services delivery for data, storage, and transparent customer network interconnect services up to 10GbE. Enventis is leveraging BTI’s proNXTM 9000 Network Management platform for multi-layer, end-to-end network visibility, rapid service provisioning, and performance monitoring.
“The compact nature, multi-service capabilities, and opportunity to leverage a fully integrated Ethernet service delivery layer for future service offerings made the BTI 7000 Series the deployment platform of choice for Enventis’ smaller POP locations,” said Ed Proetz, senior Systems Engineer, Enventis. “The BTI 7000 Series is also extremely easy to install and provision, it performs just as expected and once traffic is rolled over–it just hums along out-of-sight and out-of-mind.”
“Enventis sought a cost-effective means to deploy new applications and services for its government, education, enterprise and carrier customers to keep them profitable and productive,” said Jean-Charles Fahmy, VP of Product Management, BTI Systems. “The BTI 7000 Series integrated packet optical capabilities provides a complete multi-service platform to help Enventis deliver powerful networking solutions that keep its customers connected.”
