Rapid Achievement of New Carrier Ethernet Industry Milestone
Washington DC, Monday May 24th, 2010. CENX, Inc., operator of the world’s first Carrier Ethernet exchanges, today announced that it had achieved an historic industry milestone: Exceeding 10,000,000 Ethernet Service Locations served via its Carrier Ethernet Exchanges. This important milestone was achieved in less than 8 months since the opening of CENX’s first exchanges and well ahead of earlier predictions. It establishes CENX as the “most connected Carrier Ethernet exchange.”
“This milestone is truly the measure of the network effect taking a hold—indeed new carriers are actively reaching out to us to join CENX. The scalability of CENX combined with our recognized expertise and unmatched customer interfacing systems are the driving forces behind our rapid membership growth. 10,000,000 Ethernet Service Locations represents the number of exchange-enabled physical locations that can be reached via our Carrier Ethernet Exchanges,” said Nan Chen, CEO of CENX. “This is recognized as the most relevant measurement of the effectiveness of an exchange, as it represents the potential size of the opportunity and reach for telecom operators doing business via an exchange.”
“Exchanges have the potential to accelerate carrier Ethernet service adoption by making it much easier to identify serviceable locations and speeding service delivery to those locations in markets all around the world,” said Stan Hubbard, senior analyst at Heavy Reading. “Tracking the number of site connections is a good way to measure the relevancy of an exchange and to monitor the intensity of competition within particular markets.”
Each Ethernet Service Location is an Ethernet serviceable physical location/address, readily searchable, for example, via the CENX Market application.
