Company Demonstrates Leadership in Environmentalism with Green Technology Products, and Eco-Smart Business Efficiency

PAETEC Holding Corp. (NASDAQ GS: PAET), which provides data, voice, and Internet solutions to business-class customers nationwide, joins individuals, organizations, and businesses worldwide in celebrating Earth Day’s 40th Anniversary with green technology products and eco-smart business efficiency.
Over the last 12 months PAETEC has continued its commitment to environmentally-friendly business practices through a host of internal initiatives as well external product directions. For example, the company’s continued deployments of next-generation VoIP soft switches in place of the traditional Class 5 switches used by most local phone service providers not only offer increased reliability and advanced business-class features, but also uses 78-percent less power than traditional models and require up to 200,000 kWh less power each year per device.
Recent and ongoing deployments of PAETEC Data Centers nationally include advanced, more power-efficient devices and a bi-fuel power system which can provide redundant power generation using a cleaner combination of diesel and natural gas. PAETEC’s newest planned data center in Andover, MA scheduled for a July grand opening will be partially cooled using a plate-and-frame cooling system leveraging cooler outside air during colder months for heat exchange.
Other eco-friendly office practices include grass-roots efforts by employees of all levels on PAETEC’s “Green Team.” Across the company’s over 3600 employees throughout 100 office locations, employees have elected to remove styrofoam coffee cups and plastic utensils from cafeterias and lunch rooms. Additionally, since last year, more than 160 employees have pledged on the corporate Intranet site to reduce their own environmental impact inside and outside of work while recycling bins for paper waste, plastic bottles, etc. are available in all offices. The Green Team also drastically reduced paper usage by setting by default all printers to print double-sided.
Earlier this month, PAETEC’s Chief Executive Officer, Arunas Chesonis, represented PAETEC as the primary sponsor of the inaugural Environmental & Energy Leadership Symposium in Eastern Iowa. The event was presented by the Corridor Business Journal and recognized businesses for environmental best practices and sustainability leadership.
