NTT Com to Offer Cost-effective, Cloud-based Hosting Service

TOKYO, JAPAN – NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com) announced today the April 30 launch of Biz Hosting Basic, a high-quality, cost-effective virtual hosting service to be offered in Japan under the company’s BizCITY® concept of providing secure, cloud-based access to enterprise services anyplace, anytime.

The service previously was offered on a trial basis from October 15, 2009 to March 31, 2010, during which time some 60 participating companies helped to confirm the reliability and quality of NTT Com’s new virtual hosting service.

Biz Hosting Basic enables customers to reduce management costs by consolidating or integrating servers, and also to reduce operational burdens through outsourcing. Ready-made offerings allow customers to meet their ICT needs quickly and flexibly.

The service offers numerous advantages as a cloud-based, cost-effective and scalable solution:

1. Biz Hosting Basic leverages NTT Com’s comprehensive strengths as a telecommunication carrier by bundling services and network in a convenient and highly reliable one-stop solution. Flexible access via the Internet, mobile and/or virtual private network (VPN) allows customers to best address specific needs. Wide availability is ensured with server resources dispersed nationwide in robust data centers. Security equal to that of a private local-area network is possible with the incorporation of a VPN.

2. High cost-performance is made possible by NTT Com’s extensive network infrastructure, virtualization for efficient server operation and the availability of resources on a per-virtual server basis starting at just 7,350 yen (including tax). NTT Com provides the core network line connecting Biz Hosting Basic with the customer’s network, freeing enterprises from having to manage bandwidth or worry about network costs.

3. The service is highly scalable, so systems can be easily expanded with additional CPU (per 1 unit), memory (per 1 GB) and disk capacity (per 100 GB).

NTT Com also plans to introduce a multifactor authentication option that will enable independent software venders to quickly deploy their own services by using Biz Hosting Basic to outsource server environments and customer authentication.

Additional features and lineup offerings for NTT Com’s new cloud-based virtual hosting service are expected to be announced later.
