Juniper Networks’ Bob Dix Wins Prestigious Eagle Award

Highest Honor in U.S. Federal Market Recognizes Outstanding Contributions to IT Community

SUNNYVALE, Calif., April 14, 2010 — Juniper Networks® today announced that Bob Dix, vice president of U.S. Government Affairs and Critical Infrastructure Protection, has been selected as the 2010 industry recipient of the Eagle Award, the highest honor bestowed annually by the 1105 Government Information Group, publishers of Federal Computer Week, Government Computer News and other publications serving the U.S. federal market. The award was announced at the annual Federal 100 Gala Awards dinner in Washington, D.C. on Monday, March 22.

Eagle Award winners are recognized for their outstanding contributions to the federal IT community during the year prior to their selection. In February, Dix was selected by an independent panel of judges as a winner of his second Federal 100 Award (he won his first in 2008), placing him on a short list of multiple Federal 100 award winners. Eagle Award winners—one from industry, one from government—are chosen from Federal 100 winners by a second committee composed of former Eagle Award winners and industry luminaries.

In making its selection, the Eagle Award committee noted Dix’s accomplishments in fostering greater collaboration and cooperation between government and industry in protecting U.S. critical infrastructure, particularly its information and communications networks.

“By championing truly open, collaborative solutions to information sharing and joint decision-making as essential to our continued cybersecurity, Bob Dix has helped to change entrenched behavior patterns, political power structures, and status quo approaches to enhance industry and government collaboration,” said Karen Evans, former administrator of e-government and information technology at the Office of Management and Budget and now a partner at KE&T Partners, in remarks to Federal Computer Week regarding Dix’s Federal 100 win.

“I am deeply appreciative of this recognition, on behalf of the great team at Juniper Networks and my colleagues in industry and government who work hard every day to make this nation safer and more secure,” Dix said. “Our efforts with many industry/government collaborative bodies are extending our national capability to improve situational awareness of cyber events that could become incidents of national consequence, which strengthens protection of our nation’s vital information and communications networks.”

Throughout his career, Dix has served in senior leadership roles in industry and government. During the 108th Congress, Dix served as the Staff Director for the House Government Reform Subcommittee on Technology, Information Policy, Intergovernmental Relations and the Census. Dix was also an elected member of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors from 1992 to 2000, after serving two terms on the Vienna Town Council.
