Partners can quickly roll out cost-effective Ethernet offerings over Covad’s nationwide footprint
San Jose, Calif. – April 15, 2010 – Covad Communications Company, a leading national provider of voice and data communications, announced today it will begin allowing wholesale partners to order its new nationwide Ethernet services. Covad Ethernet is available at speeds from 1.5 Mbps to 35 Mbps that reach approximately 10 million businesses.
“Covad’s new Ethernet products will meet our partners’ demands for a more cost-effective, reliable and business-focused way to support voice, data and video on a unified network with broad coverage,” said Young-Sae Song, vice president of Marketing for Covad Wholesale. “Covad has rapidly evolved its network to upgrade its access offerings and create an intelligent broadband services platform, which allows our partners to build custom solutions for specific applications. Covad’s Ethernet portfolio eliminates geographic availability as a barrier to a partner’s rollout of Ethernet services.”
“Covad has come a long way in its transformation from a provider of DSL and T1 access services to a network services provider supporting IP-based solutions,” said Cindy Whelan, principle analyst of business and wholesale services at Current Analysis. “The carrier’s addition of Ethernet services is a strong next step that will enable Covad’s wholesale partners to deliver sophisticated solutions tailored to the needs of their enterprise customers.”
Partners can combine Covad Ethernet products with Covad’s value added services such as MPLS VPNs and class of service (CoS) to gain new customers and upsell their existing customers.
Covad’s Ethernet services are offered with dedicated Internet access or aggregated with one of Covad’s Gigabit Ethernet-based hub aggregation services.
