Texas and Louisiana Residents, Schools and Businesses Poised to Receive Broadband Internet, IPTV and Video-on-Demand Services
OTTAWA — Tuesday, April 27, 2010 // In a move to enhance its service offering and network footprint, Cameron Communications, a full-service telecommunications company, tapped BTI Systems to extend its fiber-based network services, providing residents, schools, libraries, municipalities and businesses greater access to advanced broadband, video-on-demand and IPTV services. Cameron Communications joins over 200 service provider, utility, and enterprise companies working with BTI Systems to increase service delivery capabilities and network capacity utilizing BTI Systems’ packet optical networking platforms.
Cameron Communications will boost fiber infrastructure for 13 territories with WDM “virtual fiber” and consolidate service delivery in parts of Texas and Louisiana using BTI’s one platform approach. The BTI 7000 Series—converging Layer 0 through Layer 2—with integrated Carrier Ethernet, multi-service optical, and WDM functionality simplifies network upgrades. Cameron can deploy a high-capacity, 10Gbps and switched Ethernet service infrastructure and collapse existing SONET OC-48 infrastructure onto the same fiber pair from a single platform. The packetVX, a modular component of the BTI 7000 Series, offers Cameron an integrated Carrier Ethernet-based approach to address bandwidth requirements for IPTV and video on demand.
“Investing in packet-optical technologies is a key element to rapidly deliver new services and provide a high-quality offering to our customers,” said Robert Large, network manager at Cameron Communications. “BTI Systems allows Cameron to greatly increase network capacity and deliver innovative services via a cost-effective network with simplified operations, management and provisioning capabilities. This translates to affordable services for our customers and confirms our dedication to the communities we serve.”
“There is an accelerating trend to bring fiber-based services to rural and underserved communities,” said Aleck Gilner, VP of U.S. Sales for BTI Systems. “Fiber-based services help create the environment for successful communities much like water, power and transportation have defined quality of community life for decades. BTI Systems provides the backbone for service providers like Cameron Communications to build a future-focused network today, bringing speed and performance to customers.”
