BroadSoft’s Jim Tholen Selected as SmartCEO Magazine CFO of the Year

GAITHERSBURG, MD – April 22, 2010 – BroadSoft®, the leading global provider of voice-over-IP (VoIP) applications to the telecommunications industry, today announced that James (Jim) Tholen was selected as a chief financial officer (CFO) of the year at the annual SmartCEO/Justin Bradley CFO Awards, April 21st at The Homer Building in Washington, DC. Tholen’s financial leadership contributed to BroadSoft’s double-digit, year-over-year revenue growth in 2009. Jim also helped engineer the strategic acquisition of Packet Island, and helped negotiate several strategic customer transactions, allowing BroadSoft to extend its core product portfolio and further strengthen its market leadership position.

With more than 20 years of financial and strategic management experience, Tholen has a track record of improving the performance of several of the area’s leading technology companies. He served as CFO and chief operating officer (COO) at Network Security Technologies, Inc., a managed and professional security services company acquired by MCI (now Verizon Business). He served as chief strategy officer (CSO) and CFO for CareerBuilder, Inc., helping the company grow into the number two company in the Internet recruiting and job market segment. He also served as Vice President – Strategy and M&A at Legent Corporation (now Computer Associates), and as a technology investment banker at Morgan Stanley. Jim is very active in supporting the local CFO community. He was President of the DC Metro chapter of Financial Executives International until May 2008, and has formerly served as chairman of NVTC’s CFO Forum. Tholen is an alumnus of Davidson College and holds an MBA from the Yale University School of Management.
