Unite Private Networks to Provide Fiber Optic WAN to Westside 66 School District in Omaha

Kansas City, MO (March 19, 2010) – Unite Private Networks (UPN) today announced an agreement to provide data services over a Fiber Optic Wide Area Network for the Westside Community School District located in Omaha, Nebraska. The 7-year agreement calls for UPN to provide Fiber Optic Network initially to 4 of Westside’s 15 facilities.

“Westside 66 was looking for a high bandwidth long term solution for their many technology initiatives. Our hub to facility design of the fiber network allows Westside to deliver large amounts of data required for their One-to-One Laptop program and other high bandwidth hungry applications,” said Steve Bergeron, Vice President, Business Development for UPN. “We are pleased that we could develop this long-term partnership with the Westside Community School District, they are an important customer for UPN as we continue to grow our presence in Omaha, and throughout the state of Nebraska.”

UPN specializes in providing high-bandwidth, fiber-based communications networks and related services to schools, government, carriers, data centers and enterprise business customers. UPN currently provides service in 12 states, primarily in the Midwest U.S.

“We are very pleased with the solution and the capabilities of UPN as a fiber communications partner.” said Kent Kingston, Executive Director of Administrative and Technology Services for Westside Community Schools. The value proposition they offer assures us that we’ll have more control over our growing bandwidth needs, at predictable costs, for the long term. The fiber network will position the District for the future, allowing us to move forward with our aggressive technology strategy.”
