Juniper Networks SSG Series Secure Services Gateways Deliver High-Performance Security Throughout 600 Branches Nationwide
INDIA, March 30, 2010 — Juniper Networks® (NASDAQ:JNPR, news, filings) today announced that it has been selected by Indian Overseas Bank (“IOB”; BSE: 532388) to provide an all-in-one networking solution to 600 branches nationwide. By deploying Juniper Networks SSG20 Secure Services Gateways, IOB has achieved its goal of improving branch network connectivity, security and manageability with a simple-to-install solution, enabling it to improve branch-based customer services.
IOB is one of India’s major state-controlled retail and commercial banks, with a network of around 2,000 domestic branches. The deployment of Juniper Networks SSG20 integrated firewall/VPN platform at 600 of IOB’s branch locations is the first phase of a branch network overhaul which is due to be completed next year.
“Customer service expectations are rising in tandem with economic growth and we want to ensure the bank stays ahead of the curve,” said M.S. Raghavan, general manager, IT of Indian Overseas Bank. “The deployment of Juniper Networks solutions has enabled us to increase branch network resiliency, security and manageability. That translates into a more stable platform for staff at our local branches to deliver customer service improvements.”
Juniper Networks SSG20 Secure Services Gateways are purpose-built security appliances that deliver a perfect blend of performance, security, routing and LAN/WAN connectivity for small branch offices. Dual I/O expansion ports, which accept a variety of WAN interface modules, enable IOB to maintain both point-to-point and MPLS connections between its branches and its core network.
“The Indian banking sector continues to experience strong growth, fueling demand for better IT solutions,” said Ravi Chauhan, Managing Director for Juniper Networks India. “Indian Overseas Bank’s IT Department, which is ISO 9001-certified, was meticulous in assessing the technical and commercial merits of our SSG20 Secure Services Gateways, validating what we believe to be the best-in-class branch networking solution.”
Comprehensive support for a range of WAN and routing capabilities make the SSG20 an ideal solution for easy deployment as a traditional branch office router. The product’s advanced security features make it possible for IOB to consolidate security and routing devices to reduce both CapEx and OpEx. Traffic flowing in and out of IOB’s branch offices can be protected from worms, spyware, trojans and malware by a complete set of optional Unified Threat Management security features that include stateful firewalls, IPsec VPN, intrusion prevention systems (IPS) and Web filtering.
