FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: WEDNESDAY, MARCH 17, 2010
Florham Park, N.J. — Global Crossing (NASDAQ: GLBC), a leading global IP solutions provider, today announced that Technology Marketing Corporation’s (TMC®) INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine has recognized Global Crossing’s Session Initiated Protocol (SIP) Trunking solution with its 2009 Product of the Year Award.
Global Crossing’s industry-leading suite of SIP Trunking services enables organizations to replace traditional circuit-based fixed public switched telephone network (PSTN) lines with scalable bandwidth over a single Internet Protocol (IP) connection for high-quality and cost-effective global collaboration and unified communication applications. Global Crossing was one of the first SIP Trunking service providers qualified for use with Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2.
“SIP Trunking has become the interconnection standard for VoIP calling applications offering enterprises significant cost-savings and improved global communications,” said Debra Swann, Global Crossing’s vice president of marketing. “We’re pleased that our SIP Trunking services have been recognized for innovation by a leading trade publication in IP communications technologies.”
Global Crossing’s SIP Trunking suite of services includes Global Crossing VoIP Outbound™, Global Crossing VoIP Local Service™, Global Crossing VoIP Toll Free™ and Global Crossing VoIP On-Net Plus™. These services support unified communications applications such as “presence aware” functionality, chat sessions, conferencing, application sharing and video services that help facilitate communications among multinational enterprises. SIP Trunking eliminates the need for complicated and costly gateways, bridges and other equipment while maximizing bandwidth utilization in a converged IP environment.
In 2009, Global Crossing worked with Microsoft to provide an enhanced service offering that links Office Communications Server 2007 R2 and Global Crossing SIP Trunking. Global Crossing is part of a limited group of service providers worldwide that has been qualified to provide SIP Trunking for Office Communications Server 2007 R2.
Only products that meet rigorous and extensive testing requirements and conform to the specifications and test plans will receive qualification from Microsoft. This qualification program ensures that customers have seamless experiences with setup, support, and use of qualified telephony infrastructure and services with Microsoft’s unified communications software.
