  • Many of Lexent’s financial services customers are already located within Telx facilities, giving them fast, cost-effective connectivity to data and industry information.
  • The expansion provides joint customers of Lexent and Telx with connection diversity, resiliency and added capacity.
New York, NY (February 22, 2010)Telx®, the leading interconnection and colocation provider in strategic North American markets,  today announced that Lexent Metro Connect, a leading provider of dark fiber networks in the New York Metropolitan area, has expanded its presence to meet the continued growth of its client base colocating within Telx facilities. The expansion is within Telx’s colocation facilities located at 60 Hudson Street in New York City and at 300 Boulevard East in Weehawken, N.J. – two leading interconnection facilities in the metropolitan market.
Lexent selected Telx for further network expansion as part of its aggressive focus on meeting customer growth demands by significantly increasing its capacity within key interconnection and colocation facilities to serve financial services customers already tapping into Telx’s industry-leading interconnection ecosystem of providers. At Telx’s 60 Hudson St. location, Lexent has installed dual, 432-count fiber cables to Telx’s interconnection panels, providing additional dark fiber diversity to its carrier-rich provider ecosystem. At 300 Boulevard East in N.J., Lexent terminated an additional 216-fiber cable into Telx’s first floor interconnection facility.
“The Telx interconnection facilities at 60 Hudson St., a major telecommunications hub in New York, and 300 Boulevard East, a carrier-rich connectivity hub for the financial industry, are important to our growing client base,” said Ray La Chance, President of Lexent Metro Connect. “In preparation of increasing demand for connectivity and dark fiber, Lexent chose to expand within the facility at Telx, a long-standing interconnection partner. This expansion provides our clients with both diversity and added capacity. The newly-installed cables will help bring resiliency to current and future customers’ networks.”
Lexent’s core strengths include building state-of-the-art, cost effective network solutions and maintaining a strong presence within robust interconnection points in and around the New York metro area. These strengths are critical for Lexent’s extensive base of enterprise and wholesale clients, notably for the financial trading houses looking for direct connection into local exchanges, with lowest latency and expandable capacity. Additionally, the further network presence allows Lexent’s dark fiber customers the ability to offer additional back up, storage and replication capabilities, increasing security and network redundancy.
“Lexent’s expansion within our 60 Hudson and 300 Boulevard East facilities signifies their strong commitment to serve the enterprise and financial communities,” said Bill Kolman, Executive Vice President of Sales for Telx.  “Telx leads the industry in providing carrier-neutral interconnection options, and we value the Lexent expansion as a low latency option for our bandwidth intensive client base.”
