JERICHO, NY, February 18, 2010 – Optimum Lightpath® a market leader in Ethernet-based communication solutions for New York metropolitan area businesses, today announced that New Jersey-based Denville School District has selected Optimum Lightpath as its telecommunications provider. The switch to Optimum Lightpath from Verizon, the incumbent service provider, will save the District $50,000 annually and enable its 2,300 faculty, staff and students to access significantly more bandwidth to better utilize technology in the classroom.
Meeting New Curriculum Demands For Less
Denville School District was eager to leverage technology to provide a more interactive teaching and learning experience, and enhance compliance with The State of New Jersey Department of Education’s new standards on integrating technology across the curriculum and in the education process. However, the District’s previous network limited Internet use and the potential to use technology in the classroom. To meet its IT, operational and educational needs, Denville School District worked with Optimum Lightpath to replace its Verizon 10 megabit TLS network and 6 megabit ISDN PRI solution with a GigE Managed Private Fiber WAN and Internet/Voice bundle offering a substantial 47 Megabits of speed all while saving $50,000 annually.
Extending Learning Beyond The Classroom Walls
“We needed substantially more bandwidth at a reduced cost to more effectively incorporate technology into the teaching and learning experience, and Optimum Lightpath delivered,” said John Seripligia, Business Administrator, Denville Board of Education. “As a result of the switch, we can make the learning experience much more interactive, incorporating podcasts, more heavily utilizing the Internet for research, supplementing lesson plans with limitless information from the outside world and this is just the beginning. Additionally, our back office systems and software run much more smoothly and we can consider a host of new options for additional software and applications that help us better connect parents, teachers and students.”
“With Optimum Lightpath, we undertook a major network overhaul. We were confident in this decision given the company’s solid reputation and experience,” said Bill Owens, Technology Coordinator, Denville Board of Education. “Optimum Lightpath worked around our timeframe and executed with precision for a flawless rollout that was completely seamless from a faculty and student perspective.”
“As the technology needs of New York metro area schools increase, Optimum Lightpath is helping to transform the educational experience, often while reducing overall IT costs,” said Dave Pistacchio, President of Optimum Lightpath. “Optimum Lightpath is helping to drive the evolution of the Denville School District’s digital classrooms as we aim to serve as an enabler of educational advancement and a brighter future for students. We look forward to additional work with educational institutions throughout the region to help create limitless learning opportunities.”
Optimum Lightpath has selected Denville School District for its Customer Spotlight of the Month for February 2010.
