Level 3 Launches New Content Delivery Partner Program

New Program Designed to Expand Presence of Level 3’s Services in Content Markets

BROOMFIELD, Colo., January 26, 2010

Level 3 Communications, Inc. (NYSE:LVLT, news, filings) today announced the launch of its new Content Delivery Partner (CDP) program aimed at strengthening and expanding the reach, visibility and value of the company’s international portfolio of broadcast and content delivery services.

Level 3’s CDP program will advance the company’s content delivery strategy by allowing direct resellers, value-added resellers (VARs) and solutions partners (such as developers of online media players) to leverage the Level 3 CDN and Vyvx® broadcast platforms to enable an outstanding experience for online and broadcast end-users. Level 3 will work closely with partner companies to customize value-added solutions that better enable services that link content creators with content consumers.

“Microsoft is pleased to be an inaugural member of Level 3’s new Content Delivery Partner program,” said Steve Sklepowich, director for Silverlight at Microsoft Corp. “Level 3 has proven to be a leader in online content delivery, and Microsoft looks forward to working together to provide customers with the highest quality interactive experiences with Silverlight and IIS Smooth Streaming.”

Leveraging the capabilities of the Level 3 network, the company offers a full suite of CDN and broadcast-delivery technologies. As a result, Level 3 is positioned to provide true end-to-end solutions that enable content delivery from “creation to consumption” while allowing CDP participants to take full advantage of Level 3’s significant capabilities.

At the launch of the program, CDP participants include companies such as Adobe, Cisco Systems, Gomez, Inlet Technologies, Microsoft, Multicast Media, Quova, Savvis, and several others.

“This new program will certainly enhance the reach and scope of Level 3’s content delivery value proposition in an intensely competitive marketplace,” said Melanie Posey, research director, Hosting and Telecom markets at IDC. “The CDP program demonstrates Level 3’s commitment to being the ‘go-to’ provider for online digital media solutions.”

“Our new partner program will enable further awareness of our unique suite of content delivery services and represents our continued commitment to the digital media arena,” said Peter Neill, senior vice president of the Content Markets group at Level 3. “By expanding the reach of our service capabilities, Level 3, our business partners and the end users all stand to benefit.”
