FLORHAM PARK, N.J., Jan. 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Global Crossing (NASDAQ: GLBC), a leading global IP solutions provider, today announced it has tied for first place in the Carrier Excellence award for Data Value, based on the findings of the ATLANTIC-ACM 2010 Global Wholesale Report Card. ATLANTIC-ACM, a leading telecommunications research consultancy, announced the awards during the 32nd annual Pacific Telecommunications Council (PTC) conference in Honolulu.

The awards were based on more than 1,200 evaluations of global carriers by wholesale customers for the 2010 edition of ATLANTIC-ACM’s Global Wholesale Carrier Report Card, which has become a critical benchmarking survey in the competitive global service provider marketplace. The annual survey asks carrier reseller customers to rank service providers in categories including brand, sales representatives, provisioning, network performance, customer service, billing, and numerous product quality and price categories. The “data value” score is based on the combined average of each carrier’s data product quality and price scores.

“Global Crossing’s very competitive score in data value translates into a highly attractive value proposition for the global wholesale market,” said Dr. Judy Reed Smith, ATLANTIC-ACM’s chief executive officer. “This survey finding is a testament to Global Crossing’s ability to deliver high quality services while remaining price competitive.”

“Today’s bandwidth-hungry enterprise and consumer applications are driving increasing demand for global transport services,” said Dave Carey, Global Crossing’s chief marketing officer. “Services such as Global Crossing’s subsea transport, terrestrial long-haul, and the recently announced Global Crossing EtherSphere™ VPLS Ethernet WAN help carriers meet these needs while extending their reach.”

“We’re honored to receive this industry distinction, and are very appreciative of the recognition our customers have given us,” said Omar Altaji, Global Crossing’s managing director, Worldwide Carrier Services. “This award reaffirms the competitiveness of Global Crossing’s value proposition in the global wholesale market. It confirms that we offer a differentiated capability, superior customer experience and consistently higher levels of customer satisfaction.”

Global Crossing also placed second overall in the Customer Service category, which further validates a recently commissioned customer satisfaction survey of Global Crossing’s carrier customers conducted by KS&R, an independent market research firm. These results showed that Global Crossing holds a competitive advantage in 7 of 8 key categories measured in the survey, including Overall Value, Network Performance, Invoicing/Billing, On-Line Customer Portal, Service Delivery, Service Impairment Handling and Sales Team Support.

Global Crossing has enjoyed a string of accolades relating to its superior customer experience over the last year. See for these news releases.
