China Telecom selects Tinet for International Ethernet Private Line Service

Milan – January 18th, 2010

Tinet, formerly the carrier arm of Tiscali Group and the only global carrier exclusively committed to the IP and Ethernet wholesale market, and China Telecom (Europe) Ltd. (China Telecom Europe), the subsidiary of China Telecommunications Corporation (China Telecom), China’s principal telecom operator and comprehensive information provider and owner of the world’s largest fixed-line communication network, announce today China Telecom’s partnership with Tinet for International Ethernet Private Line service.

This service provides Layer 2 carrier Ethernet solution to customers in the metropolitan cities across the world. Through this partnership, the service expands to more than 220+ POPs in Mainland China, over 70 Pops in Europe and more than 15 global POPs in other regions. Through these and other efforts, China Telecom is aiming for regional development and market expansion into Europe, Middle East and Africa.

This partnership offers mutual benefits to both Tinet and China Telecom; China Telecom customers will be able to connect their offices in Europe and the rest of world through standard Ethernet interface on a point-to-point or point-to-multipoint International Ethernet connectivity with speeds ranging up to 1000M. CTExcelink International Ethernet Private Line (IEPL) is an end-to-end, managed, bandwidth service based on next generation SDH/Sonet transport service – Multi Service Transport Platform (MSTP) with a high level of flexibility and security for easy LAN extension, WAN connection and high traffic volume applications.

Tinet’s Ethernet Extension is a layer-2 service, with end-to-end VPLS support and bandwidth and latency guarantees, enabling both the replacement of legacy IPLC and of traditional VPN technologies with simpler and more cost effective layer-2 VPN solutions.

It is a wholesale service aimed at supplying last mile connectivity into international destinations to those regional service providers that have a need to fulfill the global networking requirements of their enterprise customers
