ADVA FSP 3000 platform delivers scalability and optimizes costs, providing competitive high-capacity services in northern and eastern Europe

ADVA Optical Networking and Linxtelecom, an international telecommunications and data center services provider, today announced that the ADVA FSP 3000 was selected to enhance Linxtelecom’s reliable, high-speed connectivity across parts of the carrier’s network. The network delivers transport between data centers separated by international borders and provides local peering with Internet exchanges. Initial deployments have been done in Russia and the Baltic countries.
Linxtelecom is a dynamic international telecommunications and data center services provider with a strong regional focus, offering high-quality solutions to other carriers, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), network operators and enterprises. The company provides a range of services including international private lines (IPL), wavelength services, IP transit, MPLS-VPNs and Virtual-Point of Presence (VPoP) solutions via a network spanning Western Europe, the Nordic countries, Russia, the Baltic States, Poland, Ukraine and Georgia. Linxtelecom also offers co-location and dedicated server services from its data centers in Tallinn, Estonia and Moscow, with another state-of-the art data center to be launched soon in St. Petersburg.
As data traffic levels in the region continue to rise, providing PoP-to-PoP or end-to-end services via dark fiber has became more difficult since suitable transmission channels are sparse. Linxtelecom needed to deploy a new infrastructure to manage customer demand. After reviewing various options, Linxtelecom decided to deploy the FSP 3000 to meet its connectivity requirements. Key selection criteria included the platform’s ability to flexibly support multiple services with a limited number of cards, its multi-haul capability, carrier-class reliability and ease-of-use, all of which enable Linxtelecom to concentrate on its core business.
“The primary reasons we selected ADVA Optical Networking’s solution were its cost effectiveness, and the flexibility of the products,” said Erwin Sparreboom, vice president of operations for Linxtelecom.
“These features will prove to be increasingly necessary as we continue to expand our footprint and range of services. We operate in a dynamic and challenging market that requires us to provision high-quality services for our customers within short timeframes. During and after the selection phase, ADVA Optical Networking responded with outstanding support and fast delivery. Our companies share the same ‘customer-centric’ vision of doing business,” added Mr. Sparreboom.
Offering an intuitive remote management interface and supporting a wide array of services and protocols including the broadest range of Fibre Channel options in industry, the FSP 3000 platform allows Linxtelecom to further scale its network as and when it needs. This helps the carrier to future-proof its network for any service, capacity or service level its customers require.
“Across the Linxtelecom network footprint, new service models are driving the requirement for higher bandwidth and sophisticated data centers to both store and deliver data. The success of that model relies on an optimized cost-structure, an environmentally friendly infrastructure, an open corporate culture and a clear orientation on quality and integrity,” commented Fabrice Jean, vice president of sales, Western Europe and Nordics for ADVA Optical Networking. “Linxtelecom is a great example of how international carriers can leverage the performance, modularity and simplicity of the FSP 3000. We value our selection by Linxtelecom and are excited that ADVA Optical Networking is contributing to this organization’s success.”
