Verizon supports Naples area residents impacted by Hurricane Irma

To help victims of Hurricane Irma more easily reach family, friends and other important contacts, two Wireless Emergency Communication Centers (WECCs) have been deployed by Verizon in Naples near the areas hardest hit by the storm.

Wireless Emergency Communication Centers are generator-powered mobile units that have device charging, computer workstations and wireless phones, tablets and other devices to contact friends, family and other important contacts over the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network. WECCs will be at the following locations beginning Thursday, September 14, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily:

Behind the Verizon Pine Ridge store located at 2259 Pine Ridge Road.
Naples Community Hospital North located at 11190 Health Park Boulevard.
The WECC will provide teams of technicians to troubleshoot and charge up wireless phone batteries that survived the storm and/or have lost power.

“Many residents have been cut off from their loved ones and other important contacts that can provide them services, so the ability to make a call, send a text or receive an email can be invaluable,” said Russ Preite.

Additionally, the company has opened its Pine Ridge and Naples South stores – open 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. – to provide free calls, phone charging and device troubleshooting to all local residents, regardless of their personal wireless provider
