Sprint Responds to Mexico Earthquake

September 20, 2017
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – September 20, 2017 – Following yesterday’s deadly earthquake, Sprint, Boost and Virgin Mobile customers in the U.S. can call and text Mexico without additional charge effective today through September 22, 2017. During the same period, Sprint will also waive roaming voice and SMS charges for customers in Mexico. Charges will be automatically waived during the time specified.

Customers are encouraged to use text messaging when possible due to high call volumes and possible network congestion in the local area.

“We are sending our thoughts and prayers to the loved ones of those lost in the devastating earthquake in Mexico,” said Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure. “Following a tragedy like this, we want to help our customers stay connected to their family and friends.”

Customers can sign in to their My Sprint account to enable international calling before attempting to make a call. They can also chat with a Sprint International Representative. Customers may cancel international calling at any time following the effective period.
