That’s what it looks like when networks find networks to peer with: Medianova at DE-CIX Istanbul

At an exchange with more than 5 Terabits of peak traffic like Frankfurt, taking live a new network, or even ten networks, only has a small effect on the traffic proportionally. But at smaller exchanges, finding a new peering partner can have an immediately visible effect on traffic numbers.

This is what happened at DE-CIX Istanbul at the end of July. Medianova activated additional ports, found new peering partners, and their traffic immediately booted up at DE-CIX Istanbul.

“We are very happy to be part of DE-CIX Istanbul, and together, we will strive to make Istanbul a really big exchange point for data networks. I am sure that we will triple our traffic numbers soon!” said Serkan Sevim, CEO at Medianova.

Medianova is a reliable CDN and the biggest streaming service provider in Turkey, managing about 60 percent of Turkey’s gaming, image, and video traffic. They are growing fast in Europe with their new Prague office and in the Middle East.

DE-CIX Istanbul is a neutral interconnection and peering point for Internet Service Providers from Turkey, Iran, the Caucasus region and the Middle East. The exchange gives access to a variety of networks via various data centers across Turkey, including Istanbul, Ankara, Bursa and İzmir.

By connecting, networks get instant access to Turkish and global networks, secure access to cloud providers such as AWS and Microsoft Azure, and access to 750+ networks that peer at DE-CIX Frankfurt.
