Neutral Path Communications Extends Network Reach to 350 East Cermak, Chicago

MANKATO, MN (July 27, 2017) – Neutral Path Communications, the Midwest’s premier carrier neutral fiber transport facilities provider, announced today it is now offering lit services to Chicago, IL. The new link runs from Neutral Path’s main line at the 511 Building in Minneapolis, MN, to one of the world’s largest data centers at 350 E Cermak in downtown Chicago, IL.

The 350 Cermak data center, located in the South Loop of Chicago, has long since been an attractive destination for network operators, content delivery networks, cloud service providers, and the like.  It is also home to ChIX (United IX Chicago) which is at 25 members and growing. Neutral Path customers already have the upper hand in open traffic exchange with access to three of the leading internet exchanges in the Midwest: MICE at the 511 Building in Minneapolis; OmahaIX at 1623 Farnum in Omaha; and IX-Denver at 910 15th St in Denver. The new addition of 350 Cermak adds a fourth to the impressive list with United IX Chicago.

"We are seeing an increasingly large demand for transport to additional Internet Exchange points from last-mile providers in the upper Midwest,” remarked Neutral Path’s CTO, Jay Hanke. “Settlement-Free Peering has quickly become the dominant method of interconnection for smaller operators and we are happy to facilitate those connections."

With the addition of the Minneapolis to Chicago link, Neutral Path now boasts over 35 points of presence along their backbone network; which is just shy of 2,000 route miles and runs between the key cities of Minneapolis, Omaha, Denver, and Chicago.
