MONROE, La.  – For the fifth consecutive year, CenturyLink is supporting Lemonade Day Louisiana in order to bring the youth initiative back to northeastern Louisiana. Set to be the largest to date, more than 25,000 children are expected to participate in this year’s seventh annual Lemonade Day on Saturday, May 6, 2017.

Since 2010, Lemonade Day Louisiana has provided more than 100,000 youth across Louisiana with the opportunity to become entrepreneurs. Lemonade Day Louisiana is a free, community-wide educational initiative designed to teach children how to start, own and operate their own businesses – a lemonade stand. It is a fun, entrepreneurial and experiential learning for all children.

“CenturyLink is thrilled to once again partner with Lemonade Day Louisiana and to participate in the seventh anniversary celebration,” said Annmarie Sartor, CenturyLink external communications manager. “We would like to encourage the entire Monroe community to purchase lemonade from the many stands that will be set up on Saturday, May 6.”

Lemonade Day has spread to over 57 cities in 23 states and three countries. Registration and participation are free, and all youngsters are encouraged to participate. Youth can now register for the program online by visiting Louisiana.lemonadeday.org.

Each child that registers receives a FREE backpack with an Entrepreneur Workbook or access to an online interactive program that teaches the valuable lessons of Lemonade Day – including how to set a goal, make a plan, work the plan and achieve their dreams. Once a youth pays their investor back, they keep all of the money they earn and are encouraged to spend some, save some and share some of their profit.

On Lemonade Day, everyone is encouraged to support these future entrepreneurs. The entire community is encouraged to purchase lemonade from those stands that will be set-up throughout the state on Saturday, May 6.

“CenturyLink has been such a great partner for our outreach efforts in Northern Louisiana,” said Jordan Piazza, executive director of Lemonade Day Louisiana. “We have experienced tremendous growth in Monroe and I truly hope everyone comes out on May 6 to support our future business leaders.”

More than 30 corporate sponsors have teamed up once again to bring Lemonade Day to Louisiana including Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers, The New Orleans Advocate, Gibbs Construction, MAPP Construction, Level Homes, CenturyLink and a host of statewide corporate sponsors and partners. Since 2007 over 1 million youth have participated in Lemonade Day in over 50 cities across the United States, Canada, and South Africa.
