123Net Expands Fiber Network in Grand Rapids

Multimillion dollar investment allows even more businesses to affordably access enterprise grade fiber

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., May 12, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — 123Net, a leading Michigan-based provider of network solutions, today announced a major expansion of its advanced metro fiber hub in Grand Rapids and West Michigan business communities.

123Net’s multimillion dollar investment includes 25 miles of high capacity fiber in the Grand Rapids downtown business community, plus two separate 10 mile fiber rings reaching out to the northeast and northwest communities, respectively.  The combined 45 miles of new fiber offers area businesses world-class fiber infrastructure that integrates directly with 123Net’s local data centers and fixed wireless PoP sites, creating a robust network solution that can service even the most data-centric organizations.

“The gold standard for internet speed and reliability is connecting your business directly to fiber,” said Chuck Irvin, 123Net’s director of network development. “This new fiber hub encircles the primary Grand Rapids downtown area offering businesses the advantage of easily and affordably connecting directly into 123Net dedicated fiber.”

123Net also announced that it has begun an expansion to its Grand Rapids data center that was originally opened in 2001.  The latest investment will enhance data center and colocation services by essentially doubling the size and performance metrics of the facility.

123Net is unique in that it owns its entire network, removing the complexities that are often associated with third party solutions.  The Company now has 3,200 route miles of fiber across the state and in metro hubs in key population centers.  This fiber network is further supported by 50+ fixed wireless PoP sites and four data centers.  With Michigan businesses increasingly dependent on data, this high-performance, high-security and high-capacity network bandwidth and redundancy can be a true difference maker.

“We want to be Michigan’s backbone for business, meaning we provide the strongest infrastructure in the ideal geographies.  We’re confident that this investment in West Michigan will position us — and our customers — exactly where we need to be,” said Irvin.

123Net dedicated fiber crews can internally accomplish every aspect of a fiber installation including design, permitting, construction and installation.  This allows the company full control of the process translating into quicker, more affordable customer installations.

123Net is proud to be the official communication provider for the Grand Rapids Griffins and the West Michigan Whitecaps helping to ensure seamless business operations when the puck drops or the first pitch is thrown.
