MONIN accelerates data flow to new Chinese factory and sites across the world using Interoute’s Enterprise Digital Platform

Interoute will speed up data transfer with secure and reliable low-latency MPLS network and distributed cloud platform on three continents for global syrup company

London, 2 February 2017 – Interoute, owner-operator of a global cloud services platform and one of Europe’s largest and most advanced networks, has announced that it has been selected by MONIN, the French manufacturer of flavoured syrups distributed in 145 countries, to connect a brand new factory in Jiaxing, China, with MONIN’s headquarters in Bourges, France. A further MONIN factory in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is also set to be connected up in March 2017. Interoute will also host MONIN’s e-commerce web site and company data in Interoute Virtual Data Centres (VDC) in Hong Kong and Singapore.
Pierre-Eric Cognard, Group CIO and CDO at Georges MONIN SAS, commented, “I know Interoute well and have worked with them on several previous occasions, so it felt natural to consult with them when choosing a network operator for our factory in China. I knew the international power of Interoute’s network and when comparing suppliers few are able to commit to such a worldwide quality of service. Interoute is more responsive and competitive than its rivals and its teams immediately adapted to our needs to provide the solutions we needed.”
Interoute will provide MONIN with high-capacity MPLS network to manage the transfer of its business data. The network will allow MONIN to share industrial information and order planning between its headquarters and the new Chinese plant at a latency of less than 200 ms, a requirement for the company’s business processes to function.
Cognard explained, “Low latency is extremely important to us. We monitor our production line through our centralised ERP in France and we found that the scanners we use in our Malaysian factory operate poorly if network latency between the two sites exceeds 200 ms. Up until now, we have accelerated our traffic flows with a Content Delivery Network (CDN) solution, but using the public internet is not reliable and secure enough for us moving forward. Following the setup of our MPLS network in China, Interoute will be responsible for connecting our infrastructure in Malaysia. We also plan to store our data nearer the factory sites by using Interoute’s Virtual Data Centres in Hong Kong and Singapore, in order to be closer to users and reduce response times.”
MONIN distributes more than 140 flavoured syrups in 145 countries, and operates five production sites: one in the United States, two in France, one in China and one in Malaysia. MONIN also has 70 studios which act as showrooms to show how to use its syrups in the bars, hotels and restaurants of each country. All these sites exchange information with the headquarters in Bourges, including large amounts of marketing data and visuals – hence the importance of an efficient global network, and the choice of Interoute.
Interoute will enable a reliable and secure data exchange, synchronisation and rapid provisioning of files for business functions such as R&D and Marketing for MONIN around the world. Interoute’s global network and virtual data centres will also enable cross-site archiving to ensure secure backups. MONIN’s e-commerce applications will also be hosted by Interoute. With a trade office in Brazil exchanging large amounts of marketing data with MONIN’s French HQ, the company will rely on Interoute to increase data transfer speeds and allow more secure and faster data exchange.
Matthew Finnie, Interoute CTO, commented, “The presence of our Enterprise Digital Platform in America, Europe and Asia combined with our high performance global network is supporting MONIN Group’s international development. The CIO of MONIN’s visit to our data center in Hong Kong provided validation for the technical and security aspects of our infrastructures and was the starting point of our collaboration.”
Cognard concludes, “With Interoute, we have a single point of contact for the whole world, rather than different local providers. We also have access to technical support 24/7, as well as dedicated sales contacts. We gain coherence in our infrastructure and systems, and we have the same typology of service everywhere, which is much easier to manage.”
