TerraCom Direct now connected to CenturyLink’s Tier 1 fiber network

MELBOURNE, Fla., Dec. 18, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — TerraCom Direct, a leading provider of custom data center solutions including colocation, cloud, engineering design and consulting, today announced new CenturyLink fiber connectivity into TerraCom’s primary data center location in Melbourne, FL.  The facility is now directly connected to CenturyLink’s robust 250,000-route-mile U.S. fiber network and 360,000-route-mile international transport network.

“TerraCom Direct is committed to providing its clients premium network choices, and we’re pleased to offer CenturyLink’s fiber network services,” said Frank Huston, president of TerraCom Direct. “Whether businesses have local, national or global connectivity needs, we are capable of reaching virtually anywhere now that we are on CenturyLink’s network; this is great news for our current and future clients.”

Fiber built into the data center’s meet-me room (MMR) allows TerraCom customers to utilize MPLS (multiprotocol label switching), optical wave services, Ethernet and/or other IP services to access CenturyLink’s low-latency, secure, reliable, and highly available network. Connection speeds range from 100 Mbps up to 100 Gbps with direct fiber connections from TerraCom’s Melbourne, FLcampus to a CenturyLink Point of Presence (POP). Local-loop access charges are eliminated for the customer.

“TerraCom’s direct connection to CenturyLink’s fiber network connects businesses to approximately 300 data centers, including more than 60 global data center locations operated by CenturyLink, that offer colocation, cloud and managed hosting services,” said Eric Barrett, director, network product management, CenturyLink. “We are pleased to welcome TerraCom Direct and its clients to CenturyLink’s growing ecosystem of interconnected data centers and the end-to-end suite of hybrid IT services that help fulfill customers’ workload requirements.”

This fiber connection enables businesses to more easily access other TerraCom and CenturyLink solutions, including TerraCom Direct Cloud Solutions, the CenturyLink Cloud platform, or other business continuity and disaster recovery services. CenturyLink’s fiber connectivity in Melbourne, FL represents a new gateway for businesses to connect with the many on-net CenturyLink data centers, service providers and business locations, enabling customers to implement a hybrid virtual and on-premise IT asset strategy.
