Transporting Visitors to the Vietnam Veteran Memorial Wall

AT&T employees volunteered to develop a mobile app to transport people to the National Mall in Washington D.C.

Perched on the National Mall in Washington D.C., is the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, commonly known as The Wall. The Wall gives people a place to reflect, honor and educate.

Unfortunately, not everyone can make the trip to D.C. So, the AT&T Veterans employee resource group offered a solution: a mobile app, The Wall.

President of AT&T Technology & Operations Bill Hogg happens to serve as officer sponsor for the AT&T Veterans employee resource group. He immediately recognized the opportunity here.

Bill rallied employees with a call to action. From over 80 volunteers, a team of 10 was selected to make up a team of developers. They volunteered over 2,500 hours in the last year to develop a mobile app that takes people directly to The Wall.

Users can search for any name emblazoned on the memorial. They see the service member’s name, home of record, rank and more. Users can also request free name rubbings, learn more about the memorial and donate to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund.

Download The Wall on your mobile device from here or here.
