GlobeNet Improves Delivery of IP and IaaS Services in Brazil Through New Access to Internet Exchange Points (IXPs/PTTs) in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro

Access from Internet Exchange Points provides lower cost, increased performance and improved control for customers

Fort Lauderdale, FL – August 4, 2016 GlobeNet, a wholesale provider of data network and infrastructure services in the Americas, announces the launch of improved delivery of IP and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) services in Brazil by accessing Internet Exchange Points (IXPs), also known in Brazil as PTTs or Pontos de Troca de Tráfego, in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

Both Internet Exchange Points are managed by CGI.br, which creates and promotes the necessary infrastructure for direct interconnection between autonomous systems in Brazil.

Connecting directly to an IXP/PTT reduces costs by eliminating the need for third-party networks, allowing traffic balances to be resolved directly and locally. This method also enables network providers greater control, allowing them to route traffic as close to the desired destination as possible. This practice often results in enhanced performance and quality for customers and more efficient operation of the Internet as a whole.

By accessing these IXPs/PTTs in Brazil, GlobeNet empowers its IP Services proposal. Benefits to customers include:

  • IP Transit: GlobeNet provides direct, high performance Internet connectivity at speeds ranging from 50Mbps to 10Gbps, with zero over-subscription and rapid scalability.
  • GNIIX: Internet Service Providers (ISPs) can access content and advertise their networks at the most relevant IXPs via a local connection managed by the customer, with scalability up to 10Gbps. As an example, ISPs located in Fortaleza are able to have a presence at both Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro PPTs via GlobeNet’s solution.
  • Virtual Router available in SP2 Sao Paulo Internet Exchange for ISPs and carriers requiring a presence in the facility.

IaaS is in high demand. As a result, GlobeNet is expanding its colocation facilities in Rio de Janeiro and providing attractive bundles to customers that want to take advantage of the improved connectivity to the Brazilian IXP/PPTs by colocating within its facilities.

“Carriers and ISPs need to present additional value to their customers in order to stand out in the competitive global telecommunications market,” states Eduardo Falzoni, Chief Commercial Officer of GlobeNet. “By accessing IXP/PTTs  in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, customers benefit from improved service quality, better performance and improved control of the service.”
