Bringing #InspiredMobility to NABJ with Rev Run

I’m a pretty happy guy. I’m married to the most incredible woman in the world, I have an incredible career over at Black Enterprise, and my wife and I just published our first relationship book titled, “Loving in the Grown Zone”. But another key to my happiness is my faith.

It lifts my spirits every day. It’s the fuel that keeps me going and my mind clear. Like millions of people, I often find my inspirational pick-me-ups via social media. That’s why I am so excited to be joining AT&T at the 2016 National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) conference in Washington D.C.

On Friday, Aug. 5, I’ll have a one-on-one conversation about the convergence of mobility and inspiration with Hip Hop pioneer and digital inspiration guru Rev Run of Run-DMC.

Rev will share his inspiring life journey about music, faith and family with me.  We will discuss how he uses mobility to up his inspiration game and provide encouragement to others. With more than 5 million of followers across multiple social media platforms, Rev definitely knows a thing or two on the topic. We’ll also chat a bit about some thought-provoking research AT&T will announce as part of its #InspiredMobility campaign.

I’m excited because of my own history in using technology to gain and share inspiration. I was an early adopter when Twitter launched in 2006. There’s no way I could have predicted its power as it gained popularity. But, I knew it was about to shake things up.

In 140 characters or less, I was able to send messages and connect with people half a world away—and in an instant.  It didn’t take long for users to share positive content with the masses. Everything from faith-related quotes to memes of encouragement can be found and shared anywhere and from any device. And that’s what #InspiredMobility is all about. It’s about sharing and joining in a global conversation that enriches you no matter who or where you are. And if you ask me, that’s pretty darn powerful.

If you’re looking for some inspiration or just want to join the conversation, use #InspiredMobility on social media. There you can connect with people just like you who are looking to make the world a little better, one tweet, snap or post at a time.

And, if you’d like to connect with me on social media, follow @AlfredEdmondJr on Twitter or visit my website at www.GrownZone.com.
