GlobeNet Connects the U.S. and Brazil with 100Gbps Wavelengths

The carrier’s 100Gbps wavelength services enable high-speed and reliable connectivity from New York and Miami to major data centers in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo

Fort Lauderdale, FL – May 9, 2016 – GlobeNet, a wholesale provider of data network and infrastructure services in the Americas, announces the availability of 100Gbps wavelength services from New York and Miami in the United States to major data centers in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo in Brazil. The service enables reliable, high-speed connectivity into the two key cities in the South American market.

GlobeNet’s wavelength services deliver high-speed point-to-point, bi-directional connectivity via the latest in Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) technology. As a more flexible alternative to dark fiber, GlobeNet’s wavelengths are able to support diverse application types and protocols such as SONET/SDH, IP and ATM, eliminating unnecessary overhead and functional duplication across the network.

“By providing 100Gbps wavelengths between the U.S. and the cities of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, GlobeNet further demonstrates its dedication to providing carriers and service providers with secure, low latency and reliable connectivity to and from Brazil,” states Erick Contag, CEO of GlobeNet. “In just a few months, Brazil will be placed on the world stage as it hosts the 2016 Olympic Games. Coverage of over 300 medal events will be distributed to millions of viewers around the globe, causing the amount of data transmitted between the U.S. and South America to skyrocket. Services such as GlobeNet’s 100Gbps wavelength will ensure that international viewers are able to enjoy the games uninterrupted and in real-time.”

GlobeNet’s regional expertise led to the expansion of its network reach into São Paulo, adding a Point of Presence (PoP) at Equinix’s SP2 in October 2015. The carrier offers its high performance capacity to support major regional events, such as the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the upcoming 2016 Olympic Games.
