EARTHLINK BOOSTS WAVELENGTH CAPABILITY AND CAPACITY TO IMPROVE RELIABILITY AND INSTALL INTERVALS

Excess capacity and GMPLS technology enable more reliable Transport Services

ATLANTA – May 8, 2016 – EarthLink (EarthLink Holdings Corp. , NASDAQ:ELNK), a leading network services provider dedicated to delivering great customer experiences, today announced it has added capacity to its network in order to provide even more reliable Wavelength Service. EarthLink now uses GMPLS technology to direct traffic and allow nodes to fail-over and self-heal in the case of an unplanned network event. It also provides increased reliability in the event of a fiber cut, even with unprotected service.

EarthLink already offers protected wave solutions for customers requiring redundant routes provisioned in an active state, thanks to its unique routes and extensive footprint in the eastern United States.

Recognizing the importance speed to market plays in the Carrier Transport space, EarthLink also announced improved Install Intervals, shortening delivery times by 30% or more. The company will also offer Expedite Orders on all Transport products. Customers will only pay an Expedite Fee if EarthLink completes the install faster than the standard interval timeframe. This offer is unique within the market, as vendors typically charge the fee whether the expedited interval is met or not.

“EarthLink has always been committed to high quality service and support,” said David Zimmer, EarthLink’s SVP Carrier Services. “Our use of self-healing technology for enhanced stability, along with significantly faster installations, takes that commitment to the next level. Our Carrier and Transport customers will benefit by being able to quickly deliver dependable service to their end customers.”

EarthLink offers a range of innovative Wavelength, Managed Fiber, and deeply deployed TDM products, with nationwide reach for VPN, Ethernet and Internet. EarthLink’s facilities-based network consists of over 29,000 miles of fiber, and has over 225 DWDM enabled locations. 96% of EarthLink’s fiber routes are 100G capable and are supported by dedicated, secure Network Operations Centers in Alabama and Georgia.
