ZAYO SELECTED BY PAC-12 NETWORKS FOR MAJOR BANDWIDTH UPGRADE FOR MEN’S BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

Wavelength solution supported tournament broadcast and streaming

BOULDER, Colo. – March 31, 2016 – Pac-12 Networks, the media arm of the Pac-12 Conference, selected Zayo Group Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: ZAYO), to boost its bandwidth capability for its Men’s Basketball Tournament coverage in Las Vegas. The result was a flawless live broadcast and streaming transmission for the four-day event.

Zayo’s solution included a Wavelength service between the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, the site of tournament, and Pac-12 Network headquarters in San Francisco. The solution was installed in 12 days, exceeding the Pac-12 Network’s stringent delivery requirements by more than two weeks. With plenty of time for testing, Zayo’s wavelength solution performed so well it was elevated from a back up to the primary solution.

“Our circuit was able to handle 20 high-definition video sources for game coverage, including a 4K camera and a 6X-super slow motion camera with plenty of capacity left over,” said Matthew Brouker, vice president of Zayo’s Wavelength Strategic Product Group. “Zayo’s quality and performance elevated us from the bench to the starting squad. That’s a testament to our network and to our team.”

“The time it took to get this circuit up was nothing short of a miracle. Zayo’s network enabled us to drive nine-plus live HD video transmissions, communications, intercom and telemetry between the MGM Grand Garden Arena and our Network Center 500 miles away. The result was a seamless broadcast and streaming experience for our viewers,” said Scott Adametz, director, System Architecture & Technology at Pac-12 Networks.

This Pac-12 solution utilized fiber from a combination of prior acquisitions, including American Fiber Systems, 360networks, and AboveNet, and organic development through major mobile infrastructure projects in the Bay Area and Las Vegas.

Zayo’s extensive fiber network and supporting infrastructure supports a growing base of media and video customers. The company has points of presence in hundreds of on-net venues, including stadiums, conference centers, hotels and casinos.
