Marks the 36th Data Center Connected to the Lumos Networks

WAYNESBORO, Va.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–

Lumos Networks Corp. (“Lumos Networks” or the “Company”) (LMOS), a leading fiber-based infrastructure provider in the Mid-Atlantic region, announced today it has connected its 8,607 fiber mile network to the RANA data center in Lexington, VA. RANA, created in 2009, is a network provider serving the Rockbridge, Lexington and Buena Vista localities of Virginia. This marks the 36th data center connected to the Lumos fiber network, including 7 company owned co-location facilities.

“Being connected to the Lumos fiber network makes our data center available to organizations well beyond our network footprint,” said Scott Robertson, Executive Director of RANA. “Lumos has a strong presence in central and western Virginia, which made them a natural fit to expand our network reach for data center business.”

Lumos provides Ethernet service (https://www.lumosnetworks.com/products/ethernetmpls) into the RANA data center at speeds ranging from 3Mbps to 10G. Lumos Networks’ Carrier Ethernet offering is MEF 2.0 certified by the Metro Ethernet Forum (https://www.mef.net/certification/services-certification-registry)

Wavelength service is available at the RANA location on a customer-demand basis. Companies can use Lumos connectivity to reach the RANA site for colocation purposes or last-mile access to a location on the RANA network. The RANA facility provides 4,500 square feet of high availability data center space in the Rockbridge area.

“I am pleased to announce the connection of our fiber network to the state of the art RANA facility,” said Timothy G Biltz, President and CEO of Lumos Networks. “Our Enterprise customer base of approximately 1,200 is increasingly requesting secure access to data centers and we look forward to working with RANA to fill that need.”
