Expanded Fiber Network Delivers Route Diversity and Access to One of the Largest Data Center Clusters in the U.S.

Vancouver, Wash. – April 12, 2016 Electric Lightwave™, an Integra Company, and provider of fiber–based, carrier-¬grade networking, communications and technology solutions, announced today that it has completed its new long haul fiber optic route to Quincy, Washington – one of the country’s largest data center clusters. This direct route expands Electric Lightwave’s network to offer customers high-bandwidth and low latency transport between Quincy data centers and several metro areas throughout the West. The new route also demonstrates Electric Lightwave’s continued focus on strategic fiber asset investments to further build network infrastructure that supports evolving customer needs.

Ranking as one of the premier low-cost locations in the country to build and operate a data center, Quincy has attracted major cloud computing and high tech companies such as Dell, Intuit, Microsoft and Yahoo to the area, according to the port of Quincy press release. Electric Lightwave’s new route addresses the needs of enterprise, carrier and government customers for secure, high-capacity wavelength service connectivity at 1Gbps, 10Gbps and 100Gbps, enabling low latency network diversity, protection and business continuity applications. Electric Lightwave’s reliable, high-speed backbone offers maximum efficiency with routes that avoid common carrier hotels for true carrier diversity and provide multiple path options between Quincy and all of the major markets in the West.

“This strategic route complements our existing long haul and metro fiber network and aligns with our ongoing network expansion strategy,” said Dan Stoll, president of Electric Lightwave. “The Quincy area is a hotbed for data centers and we can now provide direct, secure, high-bandwidth connectivity to these customers requiring access to major metro areas that include Seattle, Portland, the Bay Area, Sacramento and Los Angeles.”

The Quincy expansion marks another milestone for Electric Lightwave in offering one of the largest long haul fiber networks in the western U.S. In addition to supporting access to more than 100 data centers, Electric Lightwave’s dense fiber network currently serves 3,350 on-net buildings with 12,500 route miles of fiber, offering carrier-grade solutions and virtually unlimited bandwidth to meet the increasing demands of our customers.

Electric Lightwave’s carrier grade solutions include Wavelength and Ethernet Services and Spectrum solutions. Through these solutions, customers can have customizable, scalable data and Internet access solutions over a variety of technologies regardless of the amount of bandwidth capacity they need.
