Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC, news, filings)  the Global M2M Association (GMA) the Bridge Alliance and Samsung have joined forces to demonstrate innovative solutions that will enable new and innovative business models for the Internet of Things. Through this initiative, end-users can now use the same device with services and data plans for a tailored offering while guaranteeing corporate security. This demonstration shows that collaboration among leading operators further enables rapid and cost-effective expansion across different geographical markets, providing superior connectivity and network quality under local terms, conditions and rates and ensuring affordable and flexible connections for all types of devices on a truly global scale.

The technical keystones of the collaboration are the Ericsson Device Connection Platform (DCP) and the Samsung KNOX Enterprise Billing solution enabling dual APN management. Ericsson DCP powered operator networks along with agreements among the GMA’s and Bridge Alliance’s member operators, will enable connected devices and services to be securely deployed globally with one stock keeping unit (SKU), one network and IT integration, and one service level ensuring increased security in connectivity to the network, a major concern for enterprises and users around the world. Ericsson’s DCP further enables the network operators to leverage Samsung KNOX Enterprise Billing features across multiple operators seamlessly, meaning end-users can now use the same devices for B2B and B2B2C use at competitive rates without costing the enterprise for personal usage or jeopardizing corporate security even while employees are travelling internationally.

The value of this model can be realized globally and across the various industries in which more and more types and numbers of devices are being connected. From corporate IT to enterprises operating globally in industries as diverse as automotive, oil and gas, rental car companies and banking, this collaboration simplifies logistics and connectivity management and contracts with diverse operators in many countries. It further allows harmonized operation independent of country. These features are integral to the success of high data usage for connected devices and the Internet of Things.
