- Joins forces with Challenge Networks to implement a private LTE network for Beach Energy
- Supplies multi-sector macro and Flexi Zone micro base stations to help Beach Energy make significant productivity gains and provide state-of-the-art voice and data services for its stakeholders
Sydney, Australia – 11 January 2016
Beach Energy Limited (Beach Energy), Australia’s largest onshore oil producer, has partnered with Nokia Networks and Challenge Networks to deploy a private LTE network. Powered by Nokia Networks’ radio technology and solutions provided by Challenge Networks, the network promises to deliver a truly rewarding service experience to Beach Energy’s employees. Beach Energy will also enjoy significant productivity gains arising from the lower operating expenditure incurred in using Nokia Networks’ LTE base stations, each of which can typically replace multiple WiFi access points.
As part of the project, Nokia Networks has provided its high-capacity, scalable and energy-efficient Flexi Multiradio 10 Base Stations, complemented by its Flexi Zone Small Cells solutions that provide huge capacity for managing data/voice traffic generated at indoor and outdoor hotspots.

Neil Gibbins, Acting Chief Executive Officer at Beach Energy Limited, said: “The new LTE network allows our staff to access key systems, facilities and production information throughout our western Cooper Basin field area, reducing requirements for travel between sites, making operations more efficient, saving money and significantly enhancing safety.
We looked at alternatives and found that the LTE network provided by Nokia Networks and Challenge Networks provided a better value proposition in comparison with traditional wireless communication technologies.
