BTI Systems Senior Executive to Share Insights into SDN and NFV at PTC’16

CTO and SVP of Product Management Dr. Robert Keys to Join Roundtable of Industry Experts

OTTAWA and BOSTON, January 5, 2016

BTI Systems, an award-winning provider of cloud and metro networking software and systems to content and service providers around the world, today announced that Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President of Product Management Dr. Robert Keys has been invited to participate in a panel discussion at PTC’16: Reimagining Telecoms.

The internationally recognized expert will share his insights during the session “Executive Insight Roundtable 6: Implications of Software-Defined Networking/Network Functions Virtualization (SDN/NFV) for Cloud and Network Service Providers” on Tuesday, January 19, from 2:00 – 3:15 p.m. HAST in room South Pacific 1.

Asia-Pacific’s premier telecommunications event and hosted annually by the Pacific Telecommunications Council, PTC’16: Reimagining Telecoms will explore how industries and organizations adapt to an era of communications and computing abundance – and how ecosystem participants must reshape their strategies, revenue models, products and services, processes, customer relationships and regulatory strategies. The conference will be held January 17-20 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort.

Dr. Keys’ roundtable discussion will focus on the role of SDN and NFV in the operator and service provider landscape both today and tomorrow – and what enabling equipment vendors must do to stay relevant. Questions to be addressed include:

  • How much of SDN and NFV is hype, and how much of it represents a linear evolution of increased control plane capabilities and intelligence?
  • From a competitive standpoint, if all telecom operators deploy enhanced functionality and flexibility, will anyone be better off than before?
  • What customer use cases are driving enhanced functionality?
