Sprint Network #1 in Austin

With a tie in overall performance, the fastest download speed, and 50% off most competitors’ rate plans, it’s a great time to switch to Sprint

AUSTIN, Texas (BUSINESS WIRE), December 29, 2015 – Independent mobile analytics firm RootMetrics® has just released a new RootScore® Report showing Sprint now has the fastest median download speed in Austin, and it has received a shared #1 ranking in overall performance, reliability, and call, along with an outright win in text performance.

This is Sprint’s second consecutive win of RootScore Awards in Austin for overall performance, reliability, call and text. During testing RootMetrics also found that Sprint had the fastest median download speed at 16.7 Mbps, up from 10.8 Mbps since the previous test in May 2015. As for call performance, the company recorded zero dropped or blocked calls during testing.

“We’re proud to give Austin a top-ranked wireless network, one that enables entertainment, communication and collaboration across this vibrant city. With strong overall performance, super-fast speeds, and 50% off most competitors’ rates, it’s a great time to give our network a try.”

John Stevens, President, Central Texas Region

A Top-Ranked LTE Plus Network in Austin

RootMetrics drove a total of 1,097 miles and conducted 21,729 tests in Austin. During testing RootMetrics was able to experience Sprint’s newly deployed carrier aggregation technology on the 2.5GHz spectrum band. This feature of Sprint’s LTE Plus network essentially creates a wider lane that allows more network traffic to travel at higher rates, enabling Sprint to provide Austin customers with even faster data speeds.

In addition to deploying some of the most advanced technologies in wireless, Sprint has relentlessly focused on expanding and fine-tuning the network in Austin. In the past year, the company added new cell sites and increased its coverage and capacity across all three of its LTE Plus spectrum bands – 1.9GHz for broad coverage, 800MHz for better indoor service, and 2.5GHz for faster data speeds. Sprint’s network team also systematically optimized each cell site to maximize overall performance, coverage, capacity and speed.

Austin, Switch to Sprint and Save 50%

Consumers switching to Sprint can take advantage of the biggest wireless offer in U.S. history – 50 percent off the price of most Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile rate plans.1 Customers who switch get 50 percent off most current rate plan prices from their current carrier. And, Sprint will pay switching fees up to $650 per line via an American Express® Reward Card after online registration and phone turn-in.2
