Applications are now open to all types of mobile technology startups worldwide for 2016 Sprint Accelerator, Powered by Techstars

Sprint Accelerator to be held again in Kansas City, beginning in February, 2016 

Wearables, digital advertising, enterprise services, education and in-home convergence are among the mobile technology areas encouraged to apply 


OVERLAND PARK, Kan. and BOULDER, Colo., September 1, 2015 – In 2016, the Sprint Accelerator, powered by Techstars, will expand its scope from mobile health care to mobile technology of all types. Sprint (NYSE:S, news, filings) and Techstars announced today that innovative startups from around the U.S. and the world are welcome to apply to the 2016 program. Ten startups will be selected.

In its third year, the three-month, immersive, mentor-driven program for startups will be conducted at the award-winning Sprint Accelerator facility in Kansas City. Participating companies relocate to Kansas City for the duration of the program to build and strengthen their businesses. Each company receives up to $120,000 in funding. The 2016 session will begin February 22 and conclude with Demo Day on May 24.

While the 2014 and 2015 Sprint Accelerator programs were focused on mobile heath, the 2016 Sprint Accelerator class will be open to all types of mobile services, including:

    • Lifestyle/entertainment/productivity
  • Digital services
    • Advertising
    • Mobile commerce
  • Enterprise Services
  • Education
  • In-home convergence
    • Multi-screen connectivity
