CentraCom Selects MRV for 100G Packet and Optical Network

Utah service provider chooses end-to-end MRV solution for growing network and service offerings

CHATSWORTH, CA—August 4, 2015—MRV Communications™, Inc. (NASDAQ: MRVC) (“MRV®”), a global provider of innovative packet and optical solutions, announced today that CentraCom is leveraging MRV’s portfolio of packet and optical platforms, alongside its service orchestration software, to ensure reliability and performance as it expands its network and service portfolio. The Utah-based service provider owns and operates a growing fiber-optic network serving both metropolitan access network and rural customer needs. The MRV solution is empowering CentraCom to build a 100G core and transform its network’s resiliency, flexibility and intelligence to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery to more business and residential customers.

“CentraCom operates a robust network backbone, therefore it is important that we choose scalable and reliable infrastructure solutions that enable us to streamline service deployments and keep an eye on SLAs,” said Kevin Arthur, Vice President of Network Operations at CentraCom. “It is rare to find a solution vendor that can support our entire packet metro network end-to-end, and that is why we trust MRV.  MRV’s solutions enable us to meet the needs of any customer, anywhere throughout our network, while delivering competitive, dependable and responsive services to Utah residents and businesses.”

CentraCom provides phone, cable TV, Internet, mobile backhaul, business VPN and wholesale telecom services to much of central, northern and western Utah. The service provider ensures each service is delivered at the highest quality to each customer through MRV’s Pro-Vison® service orchestration platform, which provides a comprehensive and multi-layer Operations, Administration and Maintenance (OAM) feature set. This tool monitors, measures and reports service performance on each segment of the network, which includes the MRV OptiPacket® metro service edge platform; the MRV OptiSwitch® Carrier Ethernet 2.0 (CE 2.0) service demarcation and 1st mile aggregation platform; and the MRV OptiDriver™ optical transport platform that supports intelligent ROADM networks and 100G transport. Additionally, the MRV Pro-Vision® service orchestration platform provides CentraCom with a graphical representation of service quality and SLA compliance.

“MRV helps service providers, like CentraCom, meet customers’ needs, no matter how unique, complicated or demanding the deployment may be. Our comprehensive packet and optical solutions portfolio offers the flexibility to support the services customers want today and the scalability to accommodate their future growth needs as well,” said Scott St. John, Senior Vice President of Global Sales and Service for MRV Communications.
