FRONTIER COMMUNICATIONS PARTNERS WITH GRANITE FALLS SCHOOL DISTRICT ON STATE-OF-THE-ART PHONE SYSTEM

GRANITE FALLS, Wash., April 23, 2015 — Frontier Communications (NYSE:FTR, news, filings) is pleased to announce one of the company’s newest commercial contracts, the Granite Falls School District.

Located in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains in Snohomish County, Washington, the Granite Falls School District serves nearly 2,000 students in grades K-12. Approximately 220 teachers, administrators and support staff members assist students in developing life-long learning skills.

Frontier Communications General Manager Ken Baldwin says the company began working with the school district because the district’s existing 250-unit phone system was fast approaching obsolescence. The district wanted to replace it with a state-of-the-art Mitel system that would have an HTML interface, include the functionality to receive RSS feeds, and could send out emergency text and audible alerts to all personnel in case of a lockdown situation.

Mike Sullivan, Director of Business and Operations for the Granite Falls School District, said lockdown alerts were major factor in the district’s decision to select Frontier. A couple of years ago, the district had four lockdowns within a matter of months, making the new system’s emergency text alert capabilities critical. The new system is also difficult for an intruder to access, which is another critical benefit, Sullivan added.

Granite Falls is very pleased with Frontier Communications and the new Mitel phone system, and would recommend it to other school districts, especially for its emergency alert capabilities.

Sullivan admits lockdowns are tough to discuss, but school districts nationwide understand the need for emergency preparedness, and a phone system with multiple capabilities is part of the overall solution.

“It’s a reality,” he said.
