ViaWest Unveils Expansion in Oregon Market

Denver, CO – February 11, 2015 – ViaWest, the leading hybrid colocation provider in North America, announces the build of its newest data center, Brookwood, located just outside of Portland, Oregon. Designed to be fault tolerant, the Brookwood data center is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2015. The facility is ViaWest’s third data center in Oregon and, upon completion, will encompass 138,000 sq. ft. of raised floor space.

As the third largest renewable energy producing state in the United States, Oregon is known for low power costs. ViaWest designed Brookwood to be fed by redundant medium voltage power feeds, backed by an on-site 29MW generator plant. In addition, ViaWest Oregon is a Gold level partner in the Portland General Electric Clean Wind program, which guarantees a reliable and renewable source of clean energy for businesses that require high-end facilities to support their IT infrastructures. The fact that Oregon does not have a state sales tax and offers attractive tax incentive programs helps draw customers from neighboring states like California and Washington who are looking for data center alternatives.

“As an integral part of a rich technology ecosystem, ViaWest has operated in Oregon for over ten years,” states Dave Leonard, Chief Data Center Officer for ViaWest. “Our team works closely with high-tech, legal, healthcare, government, manufacturing, retail, banking and other companies to design solutions using best in breed technology. We are excited about reinforcing our commitment to the region and supporting business and technological growth with our newest data center.”

The Brookwood data center is designed to be fault tolerant, which means maximum reliability. Upon completion, the facility will offer:

• 700+ Watts/Sq. Ft high density pods availability
• Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) projected at below 1.3, among the lowest PUE of any colocation facility
• 18 MW redundant UPS capacity
• High security with 24×7 key card access with secondary biometric authentication, 6 zone security access
• Dual-standard SSAE 16 and ISAE 3402 Service Organization Control (SOC) 1Type II, SOC 2 Type II, and SOC 3 reports
• Private suites, cages, cabinets and half cabinets
• 100% uptime Service Level Agreement for power, bandwidth and network services
• 100% satisfaction guarantee
• Dedicated, onsite staff of trained engineers

Growing nationwide, ViaWest also recently announced the opening of its 5th data center in Colorado, Compark, which is located near southeast Denver and its 1st data center in Minnesota. These highly redundant facilities boast not only fault-tolerant design, but also high-density configurations supporting 700+ watts per square foot.
