Leading Evolution in VoLTE, Huawei Secures 35 New Worldwide VoLTE Contracts in 2014

[Shenzhen, China, February 28, 2015]: Huawei today announced that, as of the end of 2014, it had successfully secured 35 new VoLTE contracts, of which three networks have already been put into commercial use. Leading innovation in the VoLTE space, Huawei’s unique value offerings in true cloud-formation technology, easy deployment, and new services beyond voice are enabling operators to smoothly evolve 2G/3G voice services to 4G LTE.

Leading Tier-one Operator in Europe Deploys Cloud-based VoLTE for True Cloud-formation

A leading tier-one operator in Europe has selected Huawei as its Virtual IP Multimedia Subsystem (vIMS) supplier for cloud-based VoLTE deployment. Offering the industry’s first truly cloudified IMS core implementation service, Huawei is the ‘Single Point of Contact’ for VoLTE deployment, and oversees the primary integration process across a multi-vendor environment. Specific methods and deployment models, initiated by Huawei, realize rapid on-boarding of various IMS components. Huawei’s success in these projects are a demonstration of the maturity of the company’s cloud-based VoLTE solution and prove the feasibility and commercial readiness of NFV technology.

PCCW-HKT to be the First to Launch VoLTE in Hong Kong

On May 5, 2014, PCCW-HKT and Huawei jointly announced the commercial launch of VoLTE in Hong Kong. At the time of deployment, it was the world’s first enhanced Single Radio Voice Call Continuity (eSRVCC)-enabled VoLTE base on the latest 3GPP release 10, which enables seamless call continuity for voice calls when switched over from LTE to 3G. Huawei conducted simplified integration that resulted in zero-impact on the existing network in terms of provisioning and billing center, legacy CS network.

VoLTE Video Commercial Trials and the Launch of “Friend VoLTE Users Recruitment” with China Mobile Zhejiang

On December 18, 2014, Huawei and China Mobile Zhejiang jointly announced the successful completion of VoLTE network deployment and the start of VoLTE video commercial trials in Hangzhou city. China Mobile Zhejiang also launched a “Friend VoLTE Users Recruitment” campaign using Huawei’s flagship Mate7 smartphone launched in September 2014. Hangzhou users can now experience brand-new high definition video calling with 720p resolution. Beyond voice, VoLTE video services are being promoted as a premium service to generate fresh revenue for China Mobile.
