Frontier Communications Completes Major Upgrades Serving East Washington and North Idaho

New Network Doubles Broadband Bandwidth and Improves Reliability

Pullman, Wash., February 17, 2015 – Frontier Communications (NYSE:FTR, news, filings) today announced completion of the first phase of its upgraded broadband network in East Washington and North Idaho. The upgrade doubles the available bandwidth, enables faster broadband speeds and provides multi-path routes for both commercial and residential customers in the area.

Frontier’s continued extensive investment in the Eastern Washington-Northern Idaho region totals more than $50M to date. In the past year alone, Frontier has invested more than $10 million dollars, thousands of hours and key intellectual assets to develop this advanced network.  New equipment and technology has been installed to increase speeds and available bandwidth, and multi-path routes have been built to provide alternate back up and automated restoral in the event of an emergency.

“We have upgraded our network, increased our overall available bandwidth, ramped up speeds and added increased protection to the network.  We now have more broadband resiliency and reliability,” explained Martin Erkela, General Manager for Frontier.  “If broadband traffic is disrupted due to unforeseen impacts or weather, it will be automatically rerouted to the additional broadband pathway, helping to prevent any major interruption.”

“This upgrade provides residential and business customers leading-edge broadband service featuring all Frontier speed tiers and network fail-over resiliency,” stated Erkela. “We’ve doubled our output capacity in certain areas of our major communities, with plans for additional upgrades scheduled throughout the year.”

Mike Towne, Vice President of Idaho/E. Washington, emphasizes, “Frontier is focused on enhancing the broadband services offered to the people in the Pullman/Moscow area and providing residents with access to new opportunities in distance learning, telemedicine, and telecommuting.  We also bring world class commercial services to the areas we serve, with an impressive array of high speed products that allow customers to stream video and use other high bandwidth applications.”

Customers have an opportunity to bundle multiple service offerings including Internet (broadband), voice and video/television services and realize substantial savings. All Frontier products and services offer 24/7/365 support from a 100% U.S.-based workforce.  Stop by the Frontier retail store located at 110 NE Whitman in Pullman, Washington, or call 208-883-8861 for further information or to order services.
