WILCON LIGHTS NETWORK CONNECTING SOCAL BUSINESSES AND CARRIER COMMUNITY

Network Supports Growing Entertainment and E-Learning Industries

LOS ANGELES, CA, (November 12, 2014) – Wilcon, the premier west coast provider of fiber optic and data center infrastructure, announced today that it is lighting its fiber optic network, stretching 3,000 miles and connecting 1,000 on-net locations, including major data centers, colocation facilities, enterprise locations and wireless communications sites throughout Southern California.

With its new 100g network, Wilcon now offers scalable Ethernet and Wavelength services, as well as Internet access, throughout Southern California from Los Angeles to San Diego. The network will be live in the first quarter of 2015.

Filling a void for network services to support bandwidth-intensive demands among Southern California’s businesses, as well as the increasing network agility required by wireless carriers and other telecommunications service providers, the new network is the result of Wilcon’s collaboration with Ciena  and LightRiver Technologies, an integrator of network transport solutions for mission-critical networks.

The new network will propel the growth of technology in Southern California by delivering ultra-broadband capabilities with the utmost security and reliability to customers in a wide variety of industries including:

  • Media and entertainment professionals and production houses seeking solutions to speed digital content creation and distribution in pre- and post-production.
  • Healthcare providers requiring precise information to make split-second decisions for the best patient care by transferring massive imaging files and meeting stringent compliance requirements.
  • Educators and research institutions that spur learning and innovation by exchanging ideas locally and globally over ever-expanding networks.
  • Wireless carriers with exponentially increasing bandwidth requirements to support the needs of LTE transport and provide agile services to mobile customers.

“This is a game-changer for Wilcon and for Southern California,” said Jon DeLuca, Wilcon CEO. “It was evident that Southern California could no longer count exclusively on the legacy network services available to handle the current bandwidth requirements, let alone their expected growth. In terms of availability and value, we are changing the marketplace.”

Reginald Scales, SVP sales and marketing of Wilcon, added, “We built a rock-solid, high-capacity, packet-optical network that can easily scale to meet this market’s unique requirements. Thanks to Ciena and LightRiver’s expertise and leadership, we now have the ability to provide business professionals in California with the connectivity and bandwidth they need to grow their organizations and compete on a global scale.”

Wilcon already offers the most dense fiber and interconnection infrastructure in downtown Los Angeles and the vastest network reach throughout Southern California with metro fiber footprints in Los Angeles, Burbank, Pasadena, Santa Monica, Woodland Hills, Thousand Oaks, Santa Clarita, Long Beach, Irvine, Riverside, Carlsbad and San Diego.
