Top 5 Professional and Collegiate Venues by Total Mobile Data

Another weekend of football is almost here and in-venue mobile data from the past week’s pro and college football games displayed some interesting trends and eye-popping total traffic numbers from marquee venues, supporting the trend of more and more mobile usage at stadiums. One fun trend we’ve seen from the first two weeks of pro football this season is the difference in data usage during nail-biting, close games compared to those in which a team wins by a heavy margin, otherwise known as blowouts. The close pro games (decided by 13 points or fewer) have averaged in-venue mobile data usage more than 73 percent greater than the blowout pro games (decided by 14 points or more) so far this season. Here are the venues in which data was really moving in and out of the stadium this past week: Top 5 Professional Venues by Total Mobile Data (9/11-9/15) San Diego, CA – 750GB Equivalent to more than 2.1 million social media post with photos San Francisco, CA – 673GB Equivalent to more than 1.9 million social media post with photos New York City, NY – 345GB Equivalent to more than 985K social media post with photos Charlotte, NC – 308GB Equivalent to more than 880K social media post with photos Denver, CO – 300GB Equivalent to more than 855K social media post with photos (function() { var imageDiv = document.getElementById(“cq-image-jsp-/content/snr/story/top_5_professional_and_collegiate_venues_by_total_mobile_data_91914/jcr:content/story/image”); var imageEvars = ‘{ imageLink: “”, imageAsset: “/content/dam/snr/2014/September14/top_5_college_venues_91714.jpg”, imageTitle: “top_5_college_venues_91714” }’; var tagNodes = imageDiv.getElementsByTagName(‘A’); for (var i = 0; i < tagNodes.length; i++) { var link = tagNodes.item(i); link.setAttribute(‘onclick’, ‘CQ_Analytics.record({event: “imageClick”, values: ‘ + imageEvars + ‘, collect: false, options: { obj: this }, componentPath: “foundation/components/image”})’); } })(); Top 5 Collegiate Venues by Total Mobile Data (9/11-9/13) Norman, OK – 888GB Equivalent to more than 2.5 million social media post with photos Stillwater, OK – 785GB Equivalent to more than 2.2 million social media post with photos College Station, TX – 603GB Equivalent to more than 1.7 million social media post with photos Columbia, SC – 510GB Equivalent to more than 1.4 million social media post with photos Oxford, MS – 480GB Equivalent to more than 1.3 million social media post with photos Caveats: All figures include only data traffic seen on AT&T’s venue-specific mobile network. These metrics are not comprehensive of every game played during this past weekend for professional or college football. This data is compiled from only football stadiums that had home games during this selected timeframe where AT&T is on-air on a DAS. – See more at: http://about.att.com/newsroom/top_5_professional_and_collegiate_venues_by_total_mobile_data_91914.html#sthash.dW8hWYjj.dpuf
