Frontier Communications Appoints Michael C. Flynn President of Mid-Atlantic Region

Skilled, Seasoned Executive to Lead Ohio, West Virginia Operations

CHARLESTON, W.Va.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Frontier Communications Corporation (NYSE:FTR, news, filings), a leading provider of broadband, voice, data and satellite television services, today announced that Michael C. Flynn, currently President of the Company’s Illinois operations, has been named President of the newly formed Mid-Atlantic Region, comprising Ohio and West Virginia. The Mid-Atlantic region headquarters will be based in Charleston, W. Va. Flynn will oversee all operations, residential and commercial sales and customer experience functions for the region, among the largest in Frontier’s 27-state service territory. Flynn succeeds Ken Arndt, named today as President of the Company’s new East Region comprising New York and Pennsylvania. Upon completion of the acquisition of AT&T’s Connecticut wireline business and statewide fiber network, Connecticut operations will become part of the East Region. Dave Davidson, Senior Vice President & General Manager for Frontier Ohio and Dana Waldo, Senior Vice President & General Manager for Frontier West Virginia, will continue in their respective roles.

Dan McCarthy, President and Chief Operating Officer, noted, “Mike’s operational background, senior leadership positions and distinguished military career position him perfectly to lead the Mid-Atlantic Region. He will provide strong and value-based leadership to our employees and put our customers first. He is a technically savvy, community-focused executive who leads by example and who has met with many employees and community leaders. We are confident that state, federal and local leaders will appreciate Mike’s experience, demeanor and leadership style.”

Since Frontier acquired Verizon’s Ohio and West Virginia wireline properties in 2010, broadband availability expanded in Ohio from 67 percent to 86 percent today. West Virginians saw residential broadband availability increase from 62 percent to 90 percent during the same period. A dedicated workforce and customer commitment, coupled with capital investments of more than $190 million in Ohio and $500 million in West Virginia, resulted in sharp decreases in customer complaints and increased satisfaction. Flynn will continue the transformation of the customer experience in West Virginia and Ohio properties, McCarthy said.

Most recently, as President of Frontier Illinois, Flynn led operations in 552 towns across the state and oversaw broadband expansions that increased availability from 60 percent in 2010 to 85 percent of households Frontier serves. Previously, he was Vice President and General Manager for Frontier’s Midwest operations, responsible for all customer support and operational aspects for Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska, and Vice President, Field Operations, for the Great Lakes area including Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio and Indiana.

His earlier assignments included director of Customer Operations in Indiana and regional director for Installation/Repair, Sales and Marketing for the FiOS network in Fort Wayne, Ind. He joined Frontier Communications in 1989 in New York as a Local Manager and held positions of increasing responsibility in customer services, support services, sales, marketing and operations.

Flynn earned a bachelor’s degree in Applied Science/Engineering from the U.S. States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. Prior to joining Frontier, he served on active duty as an officer in the U.S. Navy and later in the Naval Reserves, attaining the rank of lieutenant commander. His service included missions in the Persian Gulf and 13 countries.

Mike and his wife Mary will relocate from Bloomington, Ill., to the Charleston area. They are the parents of three: Mike II, a captain on duty with the Army Reserve/National Guard in Afghanistan; Arielle, a student at the University of Minnesota and Grace College in Indiana; and Keenan, a student at Illinois State University and a future airline pilot.
