Nonprofits Benefit from Mobile Point-of-Sale Solutions Demo at Sprint Headquarters

As more patrons expect convenience and immediacy when they give, many nonprofits are seeking ways to accelerate and simplify the process of donation gathering for their donors.

To support this growing need, Sprint hosted a free informational technology seminar for the local nonprofit community in the Kansas City area on June 25 at its Executive Briefing Center in Overland Park, Kan. More than 30 nonprofit leaders attended this two-hour “Sprint Solutions for Nonprofits” event to learn how mobile technology can help nonprofits accelerate donation, operate more efficiently, customize interaction with donors, and reduce their environmental impact.

Among the demonstrations, the Vantiv mobile point-of-sale (mPOS) solution took the spotlight with its encryption technology, exceptional customer support, and affordable price.

Connecting through Sprint’s wireless network, this simple-to-use application enables nonprofits to quickly and securely accept on-the-spot donations with an encrypted credit card reader attached directly to smartphones or tablets and send electronic receipts to donors. Nonprofits can also connect with donors more effectively by reviewing giving history and be able to market a similar cause to patrons.

“Nonprofits are always looking for the easiest way for patrons to commit,” said Stacy Warren, director of Expense Reduction Analysts. “I was fascinated by how Vantiv can help nonprofits move away from the traditional manual process to a more efficient way to gather donation and recruit new members at their fingertips.”

Attendees also took notes from the customer testimonial by Tim Fahey, president of Dirigo Agency, who recently used the Vantiv Mobile Accept app and Sprint’s wireless network to gather donations rapidly and securely at two events for the Rockville Science Center.

Another attendees’ favorite was the wireless forms by Canvas that allows nonprofits to have a paperless office with improved productivity and higher efficiency. By replacing cumbersome paper forms with customizable mobile apps, nonprofits can lower overhead cost, streamline processes, and reducing their environmental footprint.

“Adopting wireless forms will greatly help our organization boost productivity and make fewer errors,” said Kelly Willoughby, Development Direct at SAFEHOME. “People often call our hotline and we have to record all the information on papers. I’m really excited about this solution and how we could use it to be more efficient and use less paper.”

The expo also covered a wide variety of solutions, including Sprint Spark, video surveillance by CheckVideo, remote presence by Double and fleet tracking management by GeoTab.
