Huawei Vows to Bring a Bright Future with Innovative ICT Solutions

Huawei hosts 2nd ICT Exhibition from July 29th – August 2nd 2014 in Panama

[Panama City, Panama, July 29, 2014]: Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, today unveils its 2nd ICT Exhibition in Panama. The Exhibition will last till August 2nd in El Panama Hotel in Panama City. Over 1000 people from carriers, government, enterprises are attending and it is also open to public on August 2nd.

The Exhibition underscores Huawei’s role as a global ICT solutions provider that is helping the development of ICT and improve the quality of people’s life in Panama and the region, and demonstrates how Huawei is enabling carriers, enterprises and consumers to have a bright future in the year of ICT transformation with its innovative products and solutions. Visitors will have access to Huawei’s state-of-the-art products and solutions, including: Mobile Broadband, Fixed Broadband, Smartcity, Data Center, smartphones, tablets and many other new products and solutions. A CTO (Chief Technology Executive) forum will also be held on July 29. The theme for the CTO forum is “Transcending on Digital Transformation Era”. Over 50 technology representatives from 10 Caribbean carriers and Huawei experts will be gathered to share their knowledge on the evolution of carriers in a rapidly convergent ICT world.

“Over the next decades, ICT technologies will reshape and transform traditional industries, creating a fresh new start for all of us who embrace the change.” Zhang Sen, Vice President Sales, Huawei Latin America, said in the opening ceremony, “Huawei will continue its technological innovation and open cooperation, serving customers with leading products and solutions. Our commitment is to build a better connected world, a better connected Panama. We believe this vision will have a positive impact on everyone’s life – here in Panama, in Caribbean and around the world.”

Since 2004, when Huawei started its business in Panama, the company actively supported the development of the country’s telecommunications industry and by leveraging its innovative, world-class technologies. Huawei built the country’s first 4G LTE network with a downlink speed of up to 100 Mbps. It is now working with Ministry of Education in Panama on providing a network in rural and remote areas to support school students to access to education resources. It is also cooperating with CSS (Caja de Seguro Social) in Panama to deploy video conferencing system in hospital to be used for high quality remote diagnostic, irrespective of patient’s location. The company will be providing seamless mobile network coverage in Panama’s first metro line enabling passengers to enjoy during their ride a smooth, high-speed Internet connectivity. Huawei signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in 2012 with the Authority of Governmental Innovation (AIG) and Authority of Public Service (ASEP) signed to provide formation and training in the field of ICT technology.

From 2004 when it first set foot in Panama, Huawei established a wholly-owned subsidiary, four years later. Huawei registered its MHQ (Multinational Headquarter regional office in Panama in October, 2011. Now the company has totally 450 employees in the country with three layers of organizations, Huawei North Latin American MHQ, Huawei Caribbean Representatives Office, and Huawei Panama office.
