The top finishers were:

Best Home Automation App

Team volveR created a device hub to allow the automation of popular home devices such as Nest thermostats and WeMos from a single web page or app. In conjunction, a mobile device with geo-fences can be used to track when individuals enter or exit a region close to their home, turning on or off selected features of these devices.

Best App to Benefit the Disabled

Team myGuide developed an app to assist the visually impaired with everyday tasks. The myGuide app uses sonar to detect objects that are within six feet and vibrates a mobile device to let the user know they are approaching an object. This data is also stored in AT&T’s cloud using the M2X APIs.

Best Mobile App (tied)

Team Visible Sound looked at audible alerts that are commonplace and converted them to visual alerts using Philips hue. The visible sound app allows users to select a visual queue and associate it with triggers.

Best Mobile App (tied)

Team Connected Health created an app that allows the Google Glass wearable device to become a central personal health dashboard by pulling data from ATT’s mHealth APIs.
